This is an experiment in "cartoonish" color. Cities like Lock Haven are slowly disappearing and I wanted to capture it as though in a dream.
Built on a site long favored by pre-European peoples, Lock Haven began in 1833 as a timber town and a haven for loggers, boatmen, and other travelers on the river or the West Branch Canal.
This view shows the Clinton County Courthouse, Lock Haven (1869), Samuel Sloan and Addison Hutton, architects.
About Hugh Smith
A Philadelphia native, I have lived in Baja California for the past 3 years. I make photographs. Since my first Brownie Starflash when I was 6, I have tried to make photographs that make people think and touch an emotional spark in them. That is what motivates me as a photographer.
