In 1441, the first castle of the Orchard, probably a fortified farmhouse surrounded by a moat and equipped with a drawbridge, is the possession of Pierre Chabot, bourgeois of Angers. Marshal Gie acquired it in 1482 and decided to build a new home. Begun in 1494, construction of the new castle was completed in 1499. One of the descendants of the marshal, Cardinal de Rohan, the demolished in 1776. Even imposing remains of the huge castle are still visible: towers with battlements , ditches, moats, boundary wall of the park and stables, former home of the 16th and prioral building.
